Standard hospital gowns are designed for clinical utility — not for the person wearing them. MEND recovery gowns are made from a soft cotton-merino blend, close fully at the back with a dignified design, and feature short sleeves with a front zip — made from repurposed bamboo instead of metal — for IV and catheter access. They're machine washable, available in multiple colors, and built to feel like loungewear, not a paper sheet.
Metal zippers and hardware are a known hazard around MRI machines and other strong magnets. Ferromagnetic metal can turn into a fast-moving projectile, metal threads or hardware can heat up and cause burns during a scan, and metal parts can shift inside the machine's field or interfere with implanted devices like pacemakers. MEND's zippers — and most metal hardware across our apparel — are made from repurposed bamboo instead, so you can wear MEND products through imaging, procedures, and everyday care without giving MRI safety a second thought.

Our apparel products (recovery gowns, scrubs, compression socks) are consumer medical-grade apparel and do not require FDA clearance. The MEND AirGuard™ fall-detection collar, MEND Pulse blood pressure monitor, and MEND Oxi pulse oximeter are all medical devices and are currently pending FDA 510(k) clearance and CE Mark. Each is available for pre-order only and will ship only after regulatory clearance is received.
MEND Compression Socks provide 20–30 mmHg graduated compression — the clinical standard for nurses, caregivers, and patients on their feet all day or recovering from surgery. This level is appropriate for most adults and is often recommended by physicians for DVT prevention and edema management. Always consult your doctor if you have a diagnosed circulatory condition.
Yes, for bulk orders of 24+ units we offer embroidery customization on gowns and scrubs. Colors are available across our standard palette. Lead time for custom orders is approximately 3–4 weeks. Contact us at contact@mendmedicalwear.com to discuss.
AirGuard™ Safety Collar
AirGuard™ uses a 6-axis IMU (accelerometer + gyroscope) to read the motion signature of a fall — distinct from everyday movement like sitting down quickly, bending over, or bumping into furniture — and triggers in under a second. There's no button to press and nothing to configure.
AirGuard™ automatically sends an SMS and places a call to up to three designated emergency contacts, sharing your location. No app needs to be open, and there's no button to press — the alert goes out on its own.
That's what the 6-axis sensor is built for — distinguishing an actual fall from things like walking on uneven terrain, light exercise, or household tasks. We haven't published clinical trial figures yet, since the device is still pending FDA 510(k) clearance ahead of launch.
The AirGuard™ is currently in pre-order. Estimated ship date is Q3 2026, pending FDA 510(k) clearance. Pre-order customers will be notified first and charged only at time of shipment. You can cancel your pre-order at any time before shipment with a full refund.
Yes. At 38g — lighter than a watch — it's designed to sit comfortably at the base of the neck, slim enough to tuck under a shirt. The soft, hypoallergenic silicone band and breathable design mean most wearers forget it's there.
Sizing & Fit
MEND gowns are sized S–XL and scrubs are sized XS–XL, both true to standard US sizing. For gowns, we recommend ordering your usual top size for the best fit. Compression socks are sized by shoe size rather than measurement: S/M (shoe 5–9), M/L (shoe 8–11), L/XL (shoe 10–13).
Gowns and scrubs currently top out at XL. We believe recovery wear should fit every body, so if you need sizing outside our standard range, please contact us — we accommodate custom sizing for bulk facility orders and are evaluating extended sizing for a future release.

Care Instructions
Machine wash cold, gentle cycle, with like colors. Tumble dry low or lay flat to dry. Do not bleach. Do not iron directly on embroidered areas. Our cotton-merino blend is designed to maintain softness and shape through repeated washing — tested to 100+ wash cycles with no significant pilling or shrinkage.
